No SCQ tyre at Most, new development SC0 to debut in WorldSBK

Tyre talk is a common theme throughout a World Superbike round and Most promises to be no different

With the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship gearing up for its sixth round of the season and the Prosecco DOC Czech Round from the Autodrom Most, the Championship Official Tyre Supplier, Pirelli, has unveiled its allocation for riders this weekend. One of the headlining changes ahead of action commencing is that the SCQ tyre, introduced for the 2022 season for Tissot Superpole and the Tissot Superpole Race on Sunday, will not be present, whilst a development rear solution will make its debut.

Looking at the front, three solutions are available to WorldSBK riders, and all are soft compounds: as well as the standard SC1 and the well-known development SC1 A0674 (SC1A), the development SC1 A0843 (SC1B), previously used only in Assen, is also back in the allocation and at Most, it could prove to be particularly effective. At Assen, it won two races with Rea in Race 1 and the Tissot Superpole Race, whilst Race 2 was won by the A0674, which has won five races in total in 2022.

For the rear there are two solutions in SC0 compound, one standard and the other, the B0624, a development one, which debuts at Most. It differs from the range option because it uses different compound and structure. Precisely due to the specific characteristics of the track, the SCQ is not present in Most: in its place, for Superpole and the Superpole Race, the riders will be able to use the SCX compound, however it won’t be available for the long races.

Talking about the allocation, Giorgio Barbier, Pirelli’s Motorsport Director, gave comment: “Following the development activity carried out at Misano on the rear SCX, in Most our efforts will focus on the SC0 which will be present in a new specification alongside the one in the range. This is the second year we are racing here, therefore, compared to last season, we have a series of recent data on which to base our choice of compounds.

“Of course, following the work carried out over the winter, some features of the circuit may have undergone some changes, but this is still a particularly demanding track for tyres due to its layout, and the new asphalt will likely be more aggressive. For all these reasons, we have decided to rely on solutions that are still soft but sufficiently robust to face the pitfalls. For the same reason, we decided not to bring the extra-soft SCQ but to let the SCX play the role of Superpole tyre and, possibly, for the Superpole Race.”

In the allocation, riders will have the choice of eight SC1 standard tyres and eight SC1 development A0674, whilst there’ll be seven of the A0843 tyres. On the rear, there will be eight of each of the two SC0 options, whilst there will be four SCX tyres available. In wet weather conditions, riders will have three intermediate tyres at their disposal for both the front and rear, whilst that goes up to eight for the front and rear for the full wet tyre.
